Float Plan

We will be leaving our marina in Port Hadlock, Washington on July 27th, 2009.  The first day will take us to Victoria B.C.  We will stay there 2 days and then sail on to Ganges on Salt Spring Island.  After an overnight stay in Ganges we will travel Nanaimo B.C. and Comax B.C.  We will then cross The Strait of Georgia and enter Desolation Sound.  For the next 5 days we will sail in Desolation Sound before traveling to Powell River B.C.  From Powell River we will enter Hotham Sound, Jervis Inlet, and finally the Princess Louisa Inlet.  After sailing in the inlet we will travel to Pender Harbour B.C.  From there we will overnight off Keat's Island before entering Vancouver B.C.  We will spend 2 nights in Vancouver B.C. before heading for South Pender Island and Poet's Cove.  After a few days in the cove we will re-enter the U.S. at Friday Harbor.  From there we will return to Port Hadlock.  The total number of days will be 24 and we estimate a round trip of over 500 nautical miles.

Much of our free time in the next 6 weeks will be spent readying the boat for sail, studying charts, and purchasing provisions.  We've already discovered the inflatable dingy has a small leak.

We feel a connection with E.B. White as we prepare to set sail.

If a man must be possessed by something, I suppose a boat is as good as anything, perhaps a bit better than most.
A small sailing craft is not only beautiful, it's seductive and full of strange promise and the hint of trouble.
